This workshop assumes a basic familiarity with computers (QLab is native to Mac OS X and is not available on Windows).ĩam - 3:45pm, with a lunch break from noon - 12:45pm. Unless it is specifically relevant to Video, this workshop will not cover the Audio aspects of QLab. This is a basic level workshop, but assumes a familiarity with the concepts of cuing and building cues.

The goal is to teach participants the core skills they will need to start working with QLab Video systems on A/V calls as technicians, as programmers in theatres and to get them started with the skills they need if they want to be designers. Learners will work in pairs at fully functional and licensed QLab 3 stations.

  • Networking multiple QLab 3 systems this is a common situation in most theatres as the Sound Designer and the Media Designer will need to work simultaneously.

Qlab 3 is cheap, accessible and powerful, and is already the industry standard for audio control in most mid-sized and small theatres, and many larger venues. Media Designers, A/V techs and programmers are in high demand, especially those who are already familiar with live theatre. Media and video are the new frontier in design technology and disciplines in North American theatre.
